Just curious to see what you all think about the salary cap situation.

How many teams are actually over the cap? Aside from mine (the Angels, just barely), the only teams that come to mind are the two most stacked squads, Boston and the Yankees. Let them use their clever GM'ing skills to get their teams below the cap! That's what I'm trying to do.

Good idea. The teams that are over the cap of $89,000,000 are the following: Boston - $114,976,125.00 Chicago (NL) - $92,829,600.00 St. Louis - $92,673,500.00 Anahiem - $89,667,822.00 New York (AL) - $197,347,950.00 New York (NL) - $102,858,582.00 Philadelphia - $90,651,540.00
The rest are under the cap, some substantially in smaller markets. I personally approve the cap where it is.

I'm only like 3 million over and could most likely get my salary down, but I think it should be raised another 10 million to help out teams like the Yanks and Sox.

I may give a grace to the Yankees, and maybe the Red Sox. Say the Yankees at $110,000,000 and the Red Sox at $99,000,00. I'm not really infavor of moving the Red Sox's salary, as I think that reaching their goal is feasible. The Yankees, however, may be an option. Lemme know what yall think.

I think it defeats the purpose of a salary cap if there are exceptions. Yes, it does suck for the Yankees to have a payroll more than double the cap, but it's not like whoever takes the Yankees doesn't know the cap going in. For most of the teams over the cap, one trade or a released player or two will get them under. I think we'd all agree that the Yankees and Red Sox have more talent top to bottom than any other team, and forcing them to make some moves would balance things out overall.

I think we should NOT give any grace to any team cuz it simply would be unfair. Salary Cap makes it fair and everyone should obey the CAP.

Yes, I agree with both the Mariners and Angels. I feel that allowing a grace would simply be unfair, and besides, I think it would be fun and challenging to be the Yankees and make some trades to get under the cap.

Well, if the yanks try to trade like A-rod to a team, they would hardly get anything in return, and would then possibly send that team over the cap.
